Most accommodation considers the definition of a ‘group’ as a number of people that are all together, in some cases that can mean just two single persons.
The term generally refers to ‘single sex groups’ such as stags & hen do’s or sports groups but can also include 'mixed sex' singles groups such as groups from universities and colleges. Some accommodation will also define a group as a mix of couples and singles that are clearly in the one ‘group’. It is always best to choose the most suitable accommodation for your group to best enjoy your stay - so a place that is welcoming to groups is always going to be your best option.
Surf lodges and hostels are popular places for groups to stay, be it for a stag and hen do’s, sports groups or college or university groups. Depending on the accommodation, the time of year and when you are staying (in the week or at the weekend) – they can be a more lively place to stay.
Depending on the number in your group and the mix then some hotels and guest houses will take groups. In some case it may depend on who is already booked into the accommodation as groups and families may want different things out of their accommodation.
Currently no local campsites cater for groups, just families and couples. Some caravan parks will consider groups staying in caravans, these include Parkdean holidays.
