SATURDAY 4TH MARCH – (St Piran’s Eve)
1.00-1.45pm - Music outside Central Inn, Central Square Cornish singing led by Newquay Rowing Club Singers
2.00-2.30pm - Music outside The Cribbar, Gover Lane Cornish singing led by Oll an Gwella Male Chorus
2.45-3.15pm - Music outside Council Offices, adjacent to the slope leading up to Newquay Library - Live Cornish Music
3.00pm - Parade, led by Newquay Town Band and “The Flora Dance” will assemble Beachfield Avenue to leave Gover Lane (o/s The Cribbar) at 3.00pm and process (with processional dancers) through Bank Street to the Council Offices in Marcus Hill, arriving at about 3.20pm. There will be Cornish music outside the Council Offices, adjacent to the slope leading up to the Library prior to the parade arriving. The parade will conclude with the Newquay Heva Dance (and song).
Newquay Mayor will be invited to give a short address, then
3.30pm - School choristers supported by Oll an Gwella will sing 3 Cornish Folk Songs
3.45pm - Refreshments (donations to Cornish Charities) will be available in St Michaels Church Hall at the conclusion of the Parade & Performances.
4.30pm - St Michaels Church St Piran’s Eve Concert involving local schools, together with choral groups, to include poetry and songs.
SUNDAY 5TH MARCH - St Piran’s Day!
From 10.30am - Newquay Old Cornwall Society interpretive display at Trenance Cottages
11.00-11.45am - Music outside Trenance Cottages Cornish singing led by Oll an Gwella Male Chorus
11.00am - St Piran’s Day Service at St Michael’s Church led by Rev Jane Kneebone, Chaplain to Cornish Gorsedd
12.30-1.30pm - Music in Central Square – Informal singing led by Newquay Rowing Club Singers
7.00pm - Charity Ceilidh at Newquay Rowing Club comprising (all times approximate):
7.00pm - Cornish Songs with Oll an Gwella then
7.30pm - Talk/presentation by Old Cornwall Society then
8.00pm - Cornish Dances with U3A Dancers then
8.30pm - Further songs with Oll an Gwella then
9.00pm - Singing of “Trelawny” led by Newquay Rowing Club Singers then
Refreshments and Informal Singing led by Newquay Rowing Club Singers
