Visit Newquay Celebrates Success of Official Town Website in 2018
24th January 2018
Visit Newquay is the official resort marketing for the town and works hard throughout the year to promote Newquay as a top visitor destination, to give out local information, and to produce the official town guide and map. They also manage the Visit Newquay website, which has seen a significant rise in page views over the past year and they would like to share this success with the people of Newquay!
According to Google Analytics figures, the Visit Newquay website has seen a 3.86% rise in the total amount of page views in 2018 compared to 2017, rising to 1.1 million! The top pages that people tend to view include ‘Attractions’, which has seen a 26.81% increase in views, ‘What’s On’ (15.53% increase), ‘Beaches’ (6.91% increase) and ‘Car Parks & Parking’ with an impressive increase of 144.46%.
There has also been a 5.65% increase in unique page views, which are pageviews that are generated by the same user during the same session. The average time spent on pages has increased by 7.3%, meaning that people tend to stay on the Visit Newquay website for longer and are navigating back and fourth across the site. Additionally, the bounce rate is down by 9.2% compared to last year. The bounce rate is the percentage of visitors who navigate away from the site after viewing only one page. So, it is beneficial that the bounce rate is low, as it shows that users are spending more time on the website rather than immediately clicking off.
New pages have been developed in 2018 to attract more users to the Visit Newquay website. The Visit Newquay Blog was established in March and features weekly blog posts written by the Tourist Information Centre and guest blogs from local businesses. The blogs with the most views have included ‘See Newquay in a Day,’ ‘Top 10 Reasons to #VisitNqy’ and guest blog ‘The Community Chap.’ The new ‘Accessibility’ page has also proved to be very informative. One user emailed Visit Newquay to say: ‘’Can I commend you on the amount of access information you do provide, it is a pleasure to see and most welcome.’’
Visit Newquay would like to highlight the value of the official town website, as it is one of the main online platforms in which both locals and visitors can find valid information about Newquay. Visit Newquay’s aim for the upcoming year is to continue updating and making improvements to the website, to ensure that they are still rated number 1 for google searches, and to subsequently benefit the town and its local businesses. Visit Newquay are extremely proud of how well the website has performed in 2018 and do hope that they can bring this level of success to 2019.
