About
History lovers can travel back almost 200 years this February to the cobbled streets of Victorian London (Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays throughout February).
The Victorian Village, an indoor attraction at Flambards Theme Park in Helston, wants to give visitors a taste of the 19th century.
Newcomers to the cobbles can also take on the Whodunit Trail and uncover the culprit of a most unseemly crime. Looking high and low for clues amongst original artefacts from the Victorian period, visitors will need to channel their inner Sherlock Holmes to solve this Dickensian-themed brainteaser.
Wander through the life-size Village and discover 50 authentic bygone scenes. Gaze through shop windows, step inside the local pub, visit the greengrocers, ironmongers, butchers, shoemakers and even the apothecary – everything from a schoolroom and blacksmiths to the fire station are authentically recreated with thousands of original artefacts.
Among the highlights is William White’s chemist shop, an exhibition which is still shrouded in cobwebs from when it was discovered in 1989. The old apothecary laid undisturbed after Mr White died in 1909 and now visitors can admire all of the original fittings and hear from the chemist himself.
The indoor experience is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout February 2020 from 10am, visit the Flambards website for more information.
