For those of you that have never been down to Newquay before, the Miniworld Riviera Run is a 2 day Mini festival held at Trevelgue Holiday Park complete with organized cruise, specialized mini events, a Show ‘n' Shine, a festival village, an indoor swimming pool and a week of live entertainment in our on-site bars.
The event attracts around 1000 cars and over 2000 people. Special attractions have included the talents of International Strongman John Evans who is famous amongst other things for balancing a Mini on his head!

What better way to see Marine Wildlife than to get out on the water with them, and once a month that is exactly what you can do with Cornwall Wildlife Trust's Restormel Group and their Newquay Boat Sea-Safari event.
The first Safari of the yeart akes place on Tuesday 8th May. The boat, the Atlantic Diver, will leave from Newquay Harbour at 7pm. You need to be there at 6.45pm and booking is essential, so please phone Chris Lowe on 01637 850930 or 07860 927833. The cost is £20 for adults and £15 for children up to 12 years. There are a maximum of 12 places.
The boat cruises slowly along the coastline where seabirds are nesting, around the headlands and out to sea.to spot for Pelagic ceatacean.The trip lasts for 2 hours and there is a chance to look for Kittiwakes,Fulmars, Gannets, Cormorants, Terns, as well as Seals and Basking Sharks. Lasty year the boat was joined by a pod of around 15 Bottlenose Dolphins, leaping out of the water!
Basking Sharks have been spotted down West..so who knows what we might see??

Visitng over 1000 communities throughout the United Kingdom, Newquay is scheduled to see the Torch bearer and the magical Torch on the very first day of this mammoth journey across our green and pleasant land. To get all the family involved, people of all ages and all abilities are invited to come a long to Newquay Sports Centre to try a variety of sports and activities organised by Carrick Leisure and the Cornwall Sports Partnership.
There will be several National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of sport in attendance and visitors will be able to try a range of sports including Mountainboarding, BMXing, Rush Hockey, Football Cricket, Wheelchair Basketball, Golf and many more.
There will also be a bouncy castle, rodeo, face painting and a BBQ.

Newquay Tretherras School will proudly host the Torch for an hour as the crew stops for a break for an international day of sport, including the planned Duathlon and Triathlon.
The Duathlon will be a 'Row and Run' event for promary children in Years 5 and 6 and is open to all schools, while the Triathlon is a Row, Run and Ride event for secondary children in Years 7,8 and 9. The Duathlon will take place from 9.30am - 10.30am and the Triathlon will commnece from 10.30am-12.30pm.

Newquay Lions Club has once again organised the Len Skade Town Walk to enable groups to raise funds for their own organisation or for individuals to raise funds for their favourite charity.
This years Sponsored Walk has been arranged for Sunday 20th May 2012. It can be joined at any of the nine points located at approximately one mile intervals. Members of the Lions Club will act as marshals to check the progress of walkers and sign the sponser forms. An adult leader will be required for any group with members under 16 years of age.
It is a circular walk and may be taken in either direction. The marshals will be on duty between 2pm and 4pm so your should be started and finished between these times. There is no need to complete the whole circuit. It is an easy walk, but please ensure that all members are fit enough to undertake it.
Please stress on your group the importance of being safety-conscious, especially when crossing roads.
You keep all proceeds of Sponsorship. We only ask that during your walk you give our marshals a rough estimate of what you have raised, so that we can monitor the success of participating groups and of course the success of the event as a whole.

Newquay Dramatic Society present their production of "Girls' Night Too" at the Lane Theatre on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd May 2012. This musical play, written by Louise Roche and directed by Susie Bundy, is the long awaited sequel to the successful "Girls Night"
