Newquay Lantern Parade 2026

About

Welcome to Newquay Lantern Parade & Trenance Cottages Light switch 2026
Friday 20th November 2026
5.30pm - 8pm

Following the success of the 2024 and 2025 Lantern Parades which happened down in the picturesque Trenance Valley we’re now looking forward to the third Newquay Lantern Parade and Trenance Cottages Lights Switch On 2026, an event set to return on Friday 20^th November from 5.30pm. This year is slightly different as Newquay BID and Newquay Town Council will take on the management of the schools activity, while Blystra Arts will concentrate on the community aspects of the event, running their ever popular, Community Lantern Making Workshop and adding in an Adult Lantern Making Workshop for 2026 too.

Mark from Newquay BID said:

“Newquay BID is thrilled to be working alongside Newquay Town Council and Blystra Arts once again on this fantastic project, with community at its heart. The Lantern Parade is a much-loved event for local people and has firmly established itself as the moment Christmas begins in Newquay. We’re delighted to be involved and to help make it happen.

“As well as providing funding and support, our town rangers will be involved, and we’ll be working with the Newquay Lions Clubs to help coordinate road closures and ensure the event is safe for everyone to enjoy.

“Trenance Valley is such a beautiful part of our town, and seeing the trees and cottages illuminated, alongside a procession of incredible handmade lanterns, creates something truly magical for our community.

“We’re also delighted that many businesses across Newquay will be getting involved, staying open later and offering food and drink to visitors as they come together to enjoy the parade. Events like this bring people into our town, support local businesses and create wonderful shared experiences for residents and visitors alike.

“This event would not be possible without the additional financial support of Wax Events and The Atlantic Hotel, who have generously contributed towards making it happen. A huge thank you to both businesses for their support and for helping bring this fantastic event to our Newquay community.

“We’re incredibly proud to support the Lantern Parade and hope it continues to be a highlight of Newquay’s festive calendar for many years to come.”

The parade itself is happening on 20^th Nov from 5.30pm to 7pm and is now firmly lodged in to Newquay’s annual events calendar, kicking off a series of townwide festive events happening throughout Nov and Dec 2026.

This year’s parade and activity has been made possible with support from our business sponsors, Wax Events and The Atlantic Hotel, as well as Newquay BID and Newquay Town Council.
