About
Rip Reuse Recycle - Surf Competition Day
Tolcarne Beach | 9th May
Join us for a day of waves, community, and environmental action at our eco-minded surf competition on Tolcarne Beach. Designed to celebrate sustainable surfing and raise awareness for ocean conservation, this event brings together surfers, activists, and creatives for an unforgettable beachside experience.
The day kicks off at 12:00 PM with 10 exciting surf heats, showcasing local talent and passion for the ocean. Winners will be announced at the end of the day during a trophy ceremony, wrapping up around 5:00 PM.
From 10:00 AM, the beach will come alive with a variety of activities and stalls. Start your morning with a community beach clean, then explore a curated selection of market stalls featuring brands like Surfboards UK, Noa Surf Collective, Birdflip, and more. Alongside these, you’ll find activism and information stalls from groups such as Cleanseas Newquay, Surfers Against Sewage, and university marine conservation teams.
Throughout the day, get involved in a range of wellness and creative sessions including beach Pilates, breathwork, and art workshops. For those feeling energetic, a volleyball net will be set up for casual games on the sand.
We’re also encouraging conscious consumption with a drop-off point for second-hand surf gear, which will be donated to the Wave Project.
Local food and drinks will be available from the beach café to keep you fuelled all day long.
To round things off, we’re planning an afterparty - stay tuned for updates, including a potential silent disco at Steam Bar and a late-night celebration at Belushi’s.
Come for the surf, stay for the community, and be part of a movement to protect our oceans.
We can't wait to see you there!
