About
The UK's only surf and skate expo is back this year, with a massive expansion of events planned when it takes place from July 25-26 in Newquay, Cornwall.
UK Surf & Skate Expo is the only dedicated event of its type, bringing together surf and skate cultures in one place for a weekend to connect, talk shop, listen to keynote speakers, fire-side chats, exhibit your brand, talk to athletes and so much more.
This year’s expanded format introduces three major additions. On July 24th, Out Of Office Conference takes place, a one-day event for businesses to connect at the seaside in Newquay. Expo will also house the European Surf Film Festival, the best surf movies from across the Continent and beyond. There will also be the Wind & Foil Show, where the best wind and foil brands will showcase their equipment, offer demos and much more.
The Expo will also host a diverse lineup of athletes, filmmakers, explorers, founders and industry leaders. Talks will take place in the Expo Hall, sponsored by YETI. And XTRATUF will host their own stage, called Tales From The Frontier, where their roster of creatives and athletes will talk about recent adventures, such as travelling photographer Sam Sherring, set to give insights into how he got started in the industry.
There will also be the Wavelength UK Surfer Awards, honouring the country's top talent, with public voting opening at the end of February.
Chris Thomson, Expo organiser said: “We had a very successful year last year. They say the first year is one of the trickiest as it's an even that hasn't been done before. With more then 65 exhibitors, dozens of international speakers and 10,000 people through the door, think we proved the concept worked. It's why this year, we want to go bigger and bolder – create a space where brands can connect, athletes can meet and members of the public get to interact with their heroes, or brands they've followed for a long time.
“The new additions to the Expo open the door to connect on a deeper level too, with European Surf Film Festival screening top films, Wind and Foil Show having space for a different type of ocean-user and Out Of Office Conference there for business to connect.
“We'll bring the speakers again this year, and a village in marquees. We'll be announcing lots more exciting elements as we get closer to the date.”
Last year, one of the highlights of the Expo was a talk by Dogtown and Z Boys legend, Tony Alva, after he had spent a few hours at Newquay's skatepark Concrete Waves.
“We can't say too much yet,” said Chris. “But we're lining up someone as big as Alva for the Expo this year. Watch this space.”
Exhibitors are still able to book in for this year's Expo, which you can do so by going here. Entry to the Expo Village is free but you will still need an entry pass. To see talks, films and more, you will need to purchase a ticket. Which you can do by going here.
